 Their time together, 1968-69 probably went in the blink of an eye.  Gene Clark and Doug Dillard were both important figures in the music industry.  They still are today of course, although their music is probably more heavenly.  Dillard was one of the original pioneers of country rock, especially on the banjo. Clark was a founding member of The Byrds.
