S.O.D. "Wreck of the Old 97" by G.B. Grayson and Henry Whitter

May 02, 2017 by Dave Hollifield

4/30/2017     More than 20 versions of this ballad concerning a popular express mail train wreck in April 1903, with this version being the first commercially recorded.  Other versions include the Statler Brothers, Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff and Woody Guthrie.  That's right, people killed and injured trying to get the stupid mail there on time.
