S.O.D. "Muddy Water" by Keb' Mo'

4/7/2016      This guy, Kevin Roosevelt Moore, is all over the place starting out as a steel drum and upright bass player in Calypso bands.  He was partially discovered by Papa John Creach, violinist for Jefferson airplane.  Creach hired him at the age of 21 and Moore appeared on four albums with him.  His first album "Keb' Mo,'" was released in 1994 and won the WC Handy Award for Best Country/Acoustic Blues Album of the Year for 1995.  Moore sort of pays tribute to the great bluesman Robert Johnson on the album, covering two of songs, "In My Kitchen" and "Kind Hearted Woman Blues."  

     In 2003 he worked with Martin Scorsese along with many other blues musicians on the film series "The Blues."  Keb' Mo' has played many events including at the White House in 2012, and the 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival appearing with Booker T Jones, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Taj Mahal and emcee Dan Aykroyd, among others..  He is a three-time Grammy Award winner, actor and political activist.  Moore has made many musical contributions such as singing the opening theme to the Mike & Molly sitcom.  In 1998 he did Robert Johnson justice, appearing as Johnson in the documentary film "Can't You Hear the Wind Howl."  

     This song is from his 1998 Grammy Award winning album "Slow Down," and is written by Moore along with songwriter, producer, accomplished business owner and former wife Georgina Graper Moore.
