6/27/2022 What did he say? Today, a hit song is just about anything. Enjoy, and make up something.
6/26/2022 From the 1995 album “The Bridge,” which charted very well internationally. Sounds like the song actually takes place in the 80s, with teenage rebellion shining through. The Swedish group has been active since 1987, and is mostly family.
6/25/2022 This blues rock band from Boulder, Colorado was active from 1968-1972. They cut four albums, and didn’t really have a stand out single. Many members went on to successful careers with other groups.
6/24/2022 From their 1967 album, “The Mamas & the Papas Deliver.” Michelle Phillips is on vocals and of the four members, the only one still walking the earth.

6/21/2022 This song works for the SOD, but in a weird way. Mr. Smith seems obsessed with guacamole.
6/20/2022 Another song that made it on the site of genius lyrics. You can put the music in the same category, as the band fuses ‘70s hard rock, ‘90s R&B and hip-hop.
6/19/2022 You can find this song on their 1993 album, “Black Sunday.” This Latino hip-hop group is out of South Gate, California and has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. All of the members are advocates for cannabis, which may explain their amazing creativity. In 2019 they became the first Latino hip-hop group to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Check out their greatest hits album, entitled “Greatest Hits from the Bong.” Were we hitting the bong when we added this song to the SOD? The world may never know.
6/18/2022 Experimental music is one of this duo’s genres. Does any other really matter? Both members play guitar, bass, and organ. Much of the percussion in their songs is the result of banging on household objects. Crazy and cool
6/17/2022 From the 2013 album of the same name. The title of the album and song have to do with Grant’s hometown of Parker, Colorado, where Russian olive trees can be seen along the side of I-25.
6/16/2022 A traditional Sea Shanty dating back to 1896 in a London newspaper. This is where the first few lines were written. Many versions have been made, and often the story is set in San Francisco. It is mainly having to do with the time a sailor spends on land and the boarding masters that provide them a place to stay. Much of which was not very pretty.
6/15/2022 Another very short life due to drugs. Malcolm James McCormick certainly made the most of the time he had. Born in Pittsburgh and died in Los Angeles, a common resting place for many musicians. He was a songwriter, singer, rapper, and record producer. Turns out he was also a decent actor, securing roles in TV and film.
6/14/2022 From the American rock group’s fourth studio album, “Katy Lied,” released in 1975. The album’s name is taken from the insect katydid.
6/13/2022 This was an important song for U2, released in 1991. With this album, “Achtung Baby,” they took on a new sound, incorporating electronic dance music, industrial, and alternative rock.
6/12/2022 From the fifth studio album “Ophelia,” released in 1994. Amy Ray and Emily Saliers make up Indigo Girls. There is also a touring band. In September 2020 they released the song “Long Ride.” It is the first song the girls wrote together in 30 years.
6/11/2022 This guy named himself Passenger, which was the name of the British folk rock band he was in. They disbanded and he kept the name. Enjoy!!
6/10/2022 This 1981 reggae rock/two-tone song went to #1 in the UK, and charted in a few other countries. At the time, the song gave a strong voice to concerning issues in British inner cities such as violence, urban decay, unemployment, and deindustrialization.
